Wright's buzzer beater leads BU to victory - 1/12/2010
It may not be a storybook season for the BU men's basketball team so far, but the Bearcats still have a chance to be contending in the America-East conference. We've seen the good at Albany and the bad and ugly against Maine, which team would show up tonight vs. Stony Brook.
The Sea Wolves had yet to lose an a-e game this season. But BU leading scorer Greer Wright could have cared less. Early on, he was en fuego. From long range. Then taking it inside for the easy deuce to give BU a 5-2 lead. Stony Brook starts to heat up midway through the first and they take a one point edge on this short swish by Andrew Goba. Binghamton bites back soon after when Kyrie Sutton shows off some nice passing and Mahamoud Jabbi finishes to put BU back in front. They led by 6 at the half. Last chance for the Seawolves down 3 with under 10 seconds left here's Bryan Dougher from just inside half court. Nothing but net. We're tied and the crowd can't believe it. BU going all in. Greer Wright. Got it. Are you kidding me. Wright with the game winner. BU escapes 64-62. Head coach Mark Macon describes the fantastic finish.
BU coach Mark Macon "I was going crazy inside. Crazy inside. That's a great way to end a game for players, never a great way to end a game for a coach."
Greer Wright wasn't available for comment, but he was enormous for BU. His 27 points were a season high for the Bearcats. Next up for BU, a Thursday home game against Boston.
