Vestal High School to Hold Book Drive - 12/30/2009

Vestal High School’s Interact Club to Hold First-Ever Book Drive

The Vestal High School Interact Club will be having a book drive January 4-22, 2010. Bring your new or gently used books to the Vestal school nearest you. Collection barrels will be in the lobby of African Road Elementary/Vestal Middle School, Clayton Avenue Elementary, Glenwood Elementary, Tioga Hills Elementary, Vestal Hills Elementary and the Vestal High School. The books will be resold and the profits used to purchase books for schools and libraries in Nepal, or donated to organizations throughout the United States.

 Gulf oil platform explodes, burning off La. coast
GRAND ISLE, La. – An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion. The Coast Guard says no one was killed in the blast, which was reported by a commercial helicopter flying over the area Thursday morning.
