Meeting of Faiths Dedicated to Slain Professor - 12/6/2009
Slain B.U. professor Richard Antoun's friends and colleagues cannot talk about him without mentioning his passion for promoting religious tolerance. Before an interfaith discussion Sunday, the more than one hundred people in attendance offered a moment of silence in honor of Antoun.
Organizers of the event say they contemplated canceling the discussion in the wake of his death, but say he would have wanted them to carry on.
"He was a very big advocate of the interfaith programs and events, and he was part of our interfaith programs always. In fact, today we were expecting him to be here as one of our moderators," said Imam Kopuz.
"In the face of an act of violence, we need to act with peace and understanding for one another to try to keep that kind of thing from happening as much as we can," said Rev. John Goodell.
Antoun had helped organize the Children of Abraham's "Under the Tent" seminar earlier this year.
