Ernie Davis Classic: East Focuses on Positives - 11/26/2009
Southern Tier football fans had to be thankful for a great Section 4 football season. Despite no state titles coming to the area, there were a number of outstanding seniors that made this a magical year. Last night, many of them were showcased during the 20th annual Ernie Davis classic.
In a defensive struggle the west edged the east 7-6 led by a touchdown from Newark Valley's Travis French. U-E's Jordan Thomas scored the only td for the east late in the 4th, but was stopped short on the ensuing 2-point conversion. It was a tough loss for the east squad, the two team MVP's chose to focus on the positives.
Jordan Thomas "It's just a game, you know we came out here and had fun. I thought I had it, we thought we had it. I don't know, just leave it up to the refs. Just go out there and play hard, that's what we did."
Daquan Jones "It doesn't really matter, because we came out here and we had fun. You know, they're a great team over there, but you know they won. You know just come here and have fun, that's all I wanted to do and I got to play with Jordan and that was great."
Don't feel too bad for the MVP's though. Thomas is headed to Rutgers next year while Jones is Penn State-bound.
