Thanksgiving Blood Drive - 11/26/2009
The American Red Cross Blood Donor Center in Johnson City hosted a thanksgiving blood drive.
Staff says there was a steady crowd giving blood throughout the day.
The Red Cross says that because of hectic holiday schedules, busy travel plans and poor weather in the Northeast, blood donations tend to decline during the holiday season.
"I think people feel like they need to give thanks for something, and with the economy being so hard, people want to give back, so a great way to do it is to give blood," said Blood Donor Specialist Nicholas Valle.
For anyone who missed Thursday's blood drive, the donor center will be open Friday and Saturday from 7 am to 1 pm.
