Black Friday Shopping Strategies - 11/26/2009
"We're opening at 4 am, so I'll be here bright and early, if anyone wants to bring me some coffee, I'd much appreciate it," said Bon-Ton General Manager David Emanuel.
And crowds will gather outside store fronts, eager to get their hands on some deals.
"This year we have 320 door-busters, which are really exceptional values at the lowest prices that will ever be offered," said Emanuel.
But if you don't want to get tangled up in the lines or lost in the aisles, you need to make a plan of attack.
First, check out these Black Friday web sites:
blackfriday.org
black-friday.net
theblackfriday.com
and bfads.net
These are just some of the sites that will show you what stores are offering and you can price compare different brands and products as well.
Then you can make a list of the items you want and how much they cost.
Now you can bring the right amount of cash so you won't overspend and you'll be able to move from store to store faster.
Thousands of people are expected to fill the Oakdale Mall this Friday, but when are the best times to come in to avoid the big crowds.
"Come in at 7 at night. 7 to 11 is beautiful," said Oakdale Mall Marketing Director Nancy Phillips.
But if you want to be a part of the chaos and get those early bird specials, bring a shopping buddy.
"Somebody to go to Macy's, somebody goes to Sears, and it works beautifully because you can call each other and meet in the middle," said Phillips.
And you and your shopping buddy can stand in competing lines and when one of you reaches the register, check out together.
You can also carpool, which will make parking a little easier.
