Schumer Expects Bi-partisan Support For Senate Health Care Bill - 11/24/2009
Some Moderate Democrats oppose the so-called public option, the government run portion of the bill.
Republicans criticize its cost and tax increases and say Democrats are rushing to pass the bill because of looming re-election campaigns.
But Senator Charles Schumer told FOX 40 news Monday that the Senate version of the health care overhaul bill is focused on the middle class, is more moderate, and will likely prevail.
"The Democrat party is a wide-diverse party, we have some very liberal people, some very conservative people, but we are all going to try to come together somewhere in the middle. That's how I like it, things in the middle, not too far to the right, not too far to the left," said Senator Charles Schumer, (D) New York.
Schumer says he's personally talking to some Republicans that may have a change of heart about the bill.
He says there's a good chance it will have bi-partisan support.
