Schumer Cracks Down on Flu Scams - 11/17/2009
The federal government has decided to take a cue from New York Senator Charles Schumer concerning phony swine flu remedies:As we recently reported, Schumer is warning residents about cures and medications being sold over the internet, which has little or no value in fighting or preventing swine flu.
Some of them can even be harmful.
Now, the Federal Trade Commission is cracking down and will take enforcement action against ten companies.
The FTC says it will move to shut down the companies , unless they cease marketing their phony products.
Products of special concern are those that feature "ionic silver" herbal extracts, air fresheners, vitamins, shampoos, inhalers, masks, cleaning agents, and gloves.
