County Auction Generates Over $200,000 for Local Agencies - 11/17/2009

(Binghamton, NY) The 27th Annual Broome and Tioga Counties Surplus Vehicles & Equipment Auction held at the end of September generated $229,413.71 for local agencies. Hundreds attended the auction held at the Broome County Highway Garage to bid on items such as: used vehicles, furniture, bicycles, lawn equipment, computers and more. In 2008, the auction generated $209,000 in revenue.

“Each year the auction allows agencies to recoup funds and promote reuse of equipment,” said Broome County Executive Barbara J. Fiala.

City of Binghamton: $54,236.00
Town of Vestal: $6,211.66
Binghamton City Schools: $16,474.18
Bainbridge-Guilford Schools: $1,629.35
Town of Union: $3,405.22
Village of Endicott: $19,301.10
Vestal Police: $7,256.34
BCC: $4,436.70
Tioga County: $9,064.51
Town of Chenango: $30,914.25
Town of Conklin: $5,278.00
Village of JC: $5,273.45
Town of Kirkwood: $8,659.56
Chenango Valley School: $1,137.50
Vestal Fire Dept.: $5,187.00
Afton Central Schools: $2,502.50

 Gulf oil platform explodes, burning off La. coast
GRAND ISLE, La. – An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion.
