Afton Soldier In Fair Condition - 11/10/2009

An Afton man continues to recover in a Texas hospital after being injured in last week's mass shooting at Fort Hood.

30-year-old Matthew Cooke is in fair condition according to a spokesperson for Scott and White Memorial Hospital.

Cooke is a 1998 graduate of Afton Central School.

Family members say Cooke was shot multiple times at point blank range during last Thursday's attack.

The hospital's web site says all seven of the shooting victims treated at Scott and White have been released from intensive care.

GRAND ISLE, La. – An offshore petroleum platform exploded and was burning Thursday in the Gulf of Mexico about 80 miles off the Louisiana coast, west of the site where BP's undersea well spilled after a rig explosion.
