Watson joins Dick's Open field

ENDICOTT N.Y. - The Dicks Sporting Goods Open is proud to announce that World Golf Hall of Fame Member Tom Watson has formally committed to play in the 2012 Dick's Sporting Goods Open at En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, New York.

"The addition of a true golf icon to our already stellar field further justifies the way the players perceive the Dicks Sporting Goods Open as a premiere Champions Tour event.", said Tournament Director John Karedes. "This is now truly a Champions Tour Major Field!", exclaimed Karedes.

The 62 year old Watson has 39 victories on the PGA TOUR including 8 Major Titles. (5 British Opens, 2 Masters and 1 U.S. Open).
Upon moving to the Champions Tour he accumulated an additional 12 victories, including 3 Senior British Open titles.
Watson nearly pulled off one of the all-time great stories in sports by almost winning the 2009 British Open just a few months
shy of his 60th Birthday. Tom also played on four U.S. Ryder Cup teams and captained the 1993 team to victory. He led the PGA TOUR in earnings five times.

The addition of Watson has created an unprecedented field as the Top 60 Players on the current Money List have all committed to the 2012 Dicks Sporting Goods Open. Due to various circumstances, not even the 2012 Champions Tour Majors have fields that encompassed last years Top-30 Players, who are all slated to be at En-Joie next week. This is an unbelievable field! stated Karedes. This is a testament to Dicks Sporting Goods commitment to the event and Superintendent Rocco Grecos passion for providing the best possible playing conditions on TOUR. said Tournament Director John Karedes.

The members of the 2012 Dicks Sporting Goods Open Field have encompassed: 444 PGA TOUR Victories, 351 Champions Tour Victories and 20 Players have won Major Championships on the PGA TOUR.

Remaining tickets are limited! Weekly Ticket Booklets are $70 and include admission to the Dicks Sporting Goods Open including the Friday evening concert featuring 3-Time Grammy Award Winner TRAIN. Tickets are available at the Broome County Arena Box Office, Ticketmaster.com, the Tournament Office at En-Joie Golf Course and a Dicks Sporting Goods Store near you.
