Coachmaster Wage Theft

An Endicott limo service must pay a $40,000 settlement after an investigation by the State Attorney General revealed it failed to pay tips to drivers...

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says Coachmaster Transportation has been keeping a portion of tips meant for the drivers for "administrative purposes," which is against state law. According to the investigation, Coachmaster suggested a 15-percent gratuity for drivers, but kept about a third for it's own purposes. The company is now required to pay $20,000 in restitution to the workers, an additional $20,000 civil penalty, and needs to comply with the law going forward. The owner of the company referred Fox 40 to his attorney for reaction. That attorney has not returned a call for comment.
