Silo Restaurant "Goes Red" for Heart and Stroke Awareness

A local restaurant is raising money to benefit heart and stroke awareness. The Silo Restaurant in Greene hosted their 4th annual "Go Red" event tonight.

The fundraiser featured a dinner buffet, raffles, door prizes, and live music.

Keynote speaker, Amy Rowe, shared her personal story of saving her mother's life.

"My mom said that she wasn't feeling well and that her chest was bothering her, but she was pointing at her stomach," said Amy Rowe, a Physicians Assistant in the Emergency Department. " I was being the medical provider that I am and asking her questions, trying to decide whether or not to take her to the emergency department, but we didn't get that far because within five minutes my mom had passed out and went unresponsive. When I ran over to her she didn't have a pulse and wasn't breathing, so I started CPR as I called 911. And i did CPR for 20 minutes until the paramedics got there."

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the American Heart Association's Heart Walk. The walk will take place on Saturday May 3rd.
