Maine House Fire Extinguished Thanks to First Responders
2/17/2014 (Updated 10:40:15 PM)A house that caught fire in Maine Monday morning is salvageable thanks to an observant fire crew.
Firefighters were already on Route 26 headed to another fire when they saw smoke in the air.
The fire at 46 Daugherty Road began around 10:30.
The Broome County Bureau of Fire Investigation says the fire was caused by an electrical outlet behind the hot tub.
Quick response is credited with putting out the fire in a mere 15 minutes.
"What sped it up was that we were already dispatched for our first incident of the refuge fire. so that put them on the road for a good 5 minutes before this was dispatched for," said Louis Richardson, Fire Chief, Maine Fire Department.
The fire was contained to the rear of the home with minor smoke damage to the main floor.
No one was in the house at the time and no injuries have been reported.
