Police: Homeowner Shoots Intruder after Being Assaulted

Pennsylvania State Police say an elderly homeowner fought back during a home invasion in Susquehanna County Monday night.

Police say they received a call from 69-year-old David Braman who claimed a man had come into his home with a ski mask and assaulted him.

Braman told police that during the fight he fired shots at the intruder.

Police say an investigation revealed 31-year-old Francis Muchanic, 20-year-old Dylan Brewer and 20-year-old Evan Hess were driven to Braman's home in New Milford Township by 30-year-old Erica Major.

Police say Muchanic then knocked on Braman's door and told him he needed to use his phone.

He then forced his way in and assaulted Braman. Braman then shot at Muchanic hitting him in the groin area.

Police say Brewer and Hess fled the scene on foot. Muchanic was picked up by Major and they left the scene in a vehicle.

Shortly after the robbery, Major contacted police and reported that her boy friend had gotten shot while assisting a motorist on the side of State Route 81.

Muchanic was taken to Wilson Hospital and is listed in critical condition.

Muchanic, Major, Brewer and Hess are all facing charges related to the robbery.
