Increasing Tourism throughout New York State

Governor Cuomo announced Wednesday a campaign to help double tourism in New York state.

In his State of the State address, the governor announced the state will open 50 new properties for hunting, fishing and boating.  It will also add several road signs promoting tourism. The signs will link to an app available on smart phone devices.

"This is all about getting the word out and encouraging tourism. It has worked and we are going to push it to work even better," Barbara Fiala DMV Commissioner said.

After a 40 million dollar marketing campaign, tourism is up 4 billion dollars. That's two times the national growth rate. Twenty five thousand tourism jobs were also created. The governor's new plan includes redoubling those efforts.
