Dates for 2014 Dick's Sporting Goods Open announced
11/18/2013 (Updated 10:57:35 PM)ENDICOTT N.Y. Broome County Community Charities, Inc. is proud to announce that the 2014 DICKS Sporting Goods Open will be played August 11th through 17th at the En-Joie Golf Course in Endicott, New York.
"The success of the 2013 DICKS Sporting Goods Open, driven by the commitment of the Champions Tours top players, generated some of the largest galleries on the Champions Tour, said Tournament Director John Karedes. By further establishing our event as a part of the home stretch in the Charles Schwab Cup race, we have increased our opportunity of further enhancing the quality of play that our sponsors and fans have become accustomed to, added Karedes.
Broome County Community Charities, Inc., the host entity for the tournament, will operate the 54-hole stroke play tournament with 81 Champions Tour professionals competing for the $1.85 million purse. The top-10 finishers in the tournament will also be awarded Charles Schwab Cup points. The Charles Schwab Cup is the season-long, points-based competition launched in 2001 to determine the Champions Tours leading player. 2013 DICKS Sporting Goods Open First Round Leader, Kenny Perry won the 2013 Cup and the associated $1 million annuity,
All three rounds of the DICKS Sporting Goods Open will be televised by the Golf Channel, the Champions Tours exclusive cable-television partner, which reaches 83 million homes. The telecast will also be distributed internationally through various partners to 174 countries and territories, reaching more than 95 million households.
