Libous Reacts to Casino Bids

A local politician says he's happy to see the competition grow for a casino in the Southern Tier.

Senator Tom Libous told Fox 40 Friday the more bids the merrier.

Last night the owners of Traditions announced a plan for a 150-million-dollar casino.

Libous who strongly supported Proposition One says he has constituents in both counties and is supportive of both Tioga Downs and Traditions plans for casinos.

He says he does disagree with the statement Tioga Downs is too far out of the way.

"The cities around gaming or Casinos are a little bit undesirable and they are not places you want to live. The nice thing about Tioga Downs is it is out  of the the way. That's not saying I'm picking any favorites, but I think the Commissioner will make that decision and the good news is one of them will be in the Southern Tier. I think that's great. "

Libous says legislators aren't involved in the final outcome. The decision will be made by the governor's gaming commission. Four licences are available for a casino in upstate New York.
