CF Board Talks with District Voters About Merger with CV

The Chenango Forks School Board was giving out more information Thursday evening to district residents, before the straw vote is held on December 3rd to decide if voters want Chenango Forks and Chenango Valley to merge.

Officials say parents shouldn't be worried about the short distances between the campuses:

"Our campuses are minutes apart. It's like 2.5 miles. There's a little traffic issue at Chenango Valley with the bridge there, but during the middle of the day it's not that bad. Absolutely. That's something that we've talked about in the past. We'd love to do it, said Spyros Dimatos, board vice-president.

If voters in both districts give final approval in official votes early next year, a new school board would be elected to run the merged district next summer.
