Helping Victims of the Typhoon Haiyan
11/13/2013 (Updated 10:54:47 PM)The local chapter of the American Red Cross is making it easy for you to help victims of the Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.
The Southern Tier Chapter of the agency is collecting financial support and also has a family health and welfare locating program. This helps people locate family and friends affected by the storm. The American Red Cross has sent water and food for relief as part of what will be a long-term recovery process.
"Recovery is huge and as we all know in this area a disaster doesn't just come in and float away. It can be years for recovery for those areas," said Shelly Bierwiler of the Southern Tier Chapter of the American Red Cross.
You can send donations for the recovery effort to the American Red Cross on East Main Street in Endicott, or call the agency at 785-7207. Mark your donation international response.
