Continuation of Education After Military Service

Serving one or multiple tours of duty overseas takes soldiers away from earlier pursuits for extended periods of time.

And for those planning on continuing their educations and that can mean entering college as an older student.

Veterans who are now Binghamton University students were part of a forum Monday sharing  their experiences.

"Veterans Day is really a celebration of life, it you think about it.  It's about celebrating those veterans that came back in one piece or came back in order to re-engage with the community.  I think that because we work with general students, traditional aged students, it's really important to look towards the future," said Marty Wygmans, Director of TRIO Programs and Veterans Programs at BU.

There are currently about 70 veterans enrolled as students at BU.
