Siena Poll Shows Drop in New York Consumer Confidence

The latest Siena poll shows consumer confidence in New York State falling sharply, to the lowest point since December of 2011.
The index of consumer confidence dropped more than six and a half points in October.  That's considerable more than the 4.3 drop for the nation as a whole.

Buying plans among consumers were down for a variety of consumer goods, including electronics, furniture, homes and major home improvements.

Buying plans remained unchanged in only one area-for purchases of cars and trucks.
