From the Garden to the Bookshelf

What do you do when you grow too many vegetables? Maine-Endwell students decided to cook their extra produce grown in the Spartan Garden and sell their soups and sauces for a good cause.

Over 100 students worked during the summer and fall in the garden.  On Friday, the community was invited to purchase the products well as bid on student's artwork and some baked goods.  All funds raised will go towards purchasing Books and Nooks for the school district.

Students say the experience has taught them about more than gardening.

"To get money and give it back to the community," said Billy Dundon, fourth grader.

"If we work hard we can help our community," said Jessica Springer, fifth grader.

Over the summer, students harvest vegetables for families in need.
