Hanna Announces Support for Marketing Research Products at BU

Researchers at Binghamton University received some good news from congressman Richard Hanna, Thursday.

He visited the university and announced his sponsorship of a bill that would offer grants to the innovative technology programs at the school. The bill is called the transfer act of 2013 and it provides grants of around $50,000 to help move inventions from the university to the marketplace and in return create jobs.

"There's a gap between what's been done in the lab and how you take it to the market place. So this program proposed has that potential," Dr. Sadik, Professor of Biological Sciences at BU, said.

"The idea that we can help them become a product or create a product and bring it to the market and be
successful with it like any other business may have, is important," Congressman Hanna, said.

The Transfer Act of 2013 still needs to pass in the house but the congressman says it should be an easy vote since the money is already budgeted for.
