Fall Restaurant Week Raises $8,500 for CHOW

The eighth and most recent Restaurant Week in Binghamton wrapped up with its largest totals ever.

The 24 restaurants sold 21,822 meals, donating $8,534 to CHOW in Binghamton.

In 2012, CHOW provided over 1.2 million meals to those in need in the area.

CHOW Director Mike Leahey said this donation will help provide 34,000 meals in the community.

"What this will do is allow people to take home five days worth of food or go to local soup kitchens when they are struggling with food and security," said Leahey.

"None of us thought that this was going to happen when we first started four years ago.  It was a nice little event with seven restaurants.  Now to be able to present a check for over $8,000 is a really nice feeling," said partner of Little Venice Restaurant Piero Lisio.

Spring 2014's Restaurant Week is already in the works.

It's scheduled for April 1st-10th 2014.
