Flood Preparation and Re-building Discussed in Union

In Union, another public informational meeting was held on Thursday regarding flood preparation, and re-building from the impacts of recent floods.

Among topics discussed were new architectural ways to protect yourself from flooding.

One interesting approach: flood prevention roofing, which involves grass and other vegetation to slow and channel run-off.  Speakers  emphasized that it is wise to always expect, as a possibility, unexpected floods.

"I think it's important for these people to understand what happened first and foremost, and then start to really educate themselves on how they can start to protect themselves from future floods. And beyond that, how they can really start to minimize the effects of future floods as they do happen," said Andrew Bohne, Vice President of Landscape and Architectural Design.

The Town of Union is set to receive 3 million dollars of additional disaster recovery funding under state programs.
