Dimock Moratorium

Some residents in Dimock, Pennsylvania have a very different set of complaints.  They want to know when fracking of new wells can resume.

There is a nine-square-mile section of Dimock where fracking of new wells can't take place.  The moratorium is part of a DEP investigation into well contamination that started in 2009.

Jim Grimsley says his water has been tested four times with no issues. He's frustrated that Cabot Oil and Gas can drill new wells elsewhere in the state but not on his land.

"Over the course of the four years the amount of money that we've lost because the wells haven't gone in is large. Very, very large," said Grimsley.

The Pennsylvania DEP told Fox 40 Friday afternoon that the moratorium will be lifted when methane levels stabilize but as of now the levels continue to fluctuate.
