City of Binghamton Announces Free Disposal of One Bulk Item

The City of Binghamton announced Wednesday that they are waving the sticker requirement for the disposal of one bulk item per household on their regularly scheduled garbage collection days from October 21 through October 25.

Bulk items may include:
-Furniture (e.g. couch, chair, table, mattress, etc.)
-Appliances ( e.g. washers, dryers, and stoves, etc.)
- Other bulky items are defined by Code of the City of Binghamton.

For metal appliances or other metal trash items, the Department of Public Works Dispatch must be notified at least one day before the scheduled pickup by calling (607) 772-7020.

For smaller items not suitable for City bags, a container can be used or the material can be bundled and tied. The container or bundled material may not exceed five feet in length or 50 pounds in total weight. One household item, one container, or bundle of material will constitute one bulk item. 

Items not included are:
-Computers and Monitors
-Hazardous waste
-Tires, oil, and car batteries
-Paints and solvents
-Construction and demolition debris (e.g. lumber, drywall, doors, flooring, carpeting, windows, tile roofing material)
-Soil, stones, and masonry material (e.g. brick and concrete).
