Greenman Senior Center For Sale Again

The former Greenman Senior Center site in Binghamton is for sale once again. This after the city rejected a $105,000 bid from Gemini Construction to buy and rehab the property.

According to the city, it has received a $123,000 bid from Angela Testani and $130,000 offer from the president of Red Barn Technology.

The city is now going to advertise the property again and request sealed bids. City council rejected what would have been a binding $75,000 from the non-profit Opportunities For Broome in April.

"Had we accepted that the building would currently be in use. There would be jobs here, it wouldn't be an empty building. I'm nervous going forward as we get more into the Winter we know the city is responsible for the upkeep," said City Council President Teri Rennia.

"This will be it. Whatever the outcome is this will be the final. Hopefully. I'm saying that but this should be the final time it goes up for sale," said City Councilman Chris Papastrat.

Papastrat estimates the sealed bid process should take a few weeks.
