Hundreds Attend Annual Broome County Surplus Auction

Local towns and school districts gathered their extra equipment and supplies, Saturday to auction off at the Annual Broome Country Surplus Auction.

The auction was held at the Broome County Highway Department in the Town of Chenango. Hundreds of people from all over came out to bid on items from Broome and Tioga counties. For some people it's become a yearly tradition.

"I've been coming to this for over ten years. I used to go to Griffin Park when they had it there. It was a nice place but it's nice up here too," Bob Boatman of Binghamton, said.

Some of the items up for auction were construction equipment, trucks, SUVs, and office equipment. Last year's auction raised $70,000 for the county.
