BU Professor Receives Funding for Stress Treatment Study

Binghamton University is one of ten SUNY campuses selected for research collaboration awards from the state.

Seven research projects among ten SUNY campuses will receive up to $100,000 of funding. BU is involved in three of those projects.

Richard Mattson got funding for a stress treatment study with two other SUNY Universities.

"In order to really do ground breaking research we need a team of individuals who have expertise in different areas. So the collaborative frame work is becoming a necessity," said Richard Mattson, Associate Professor of Psychology at BU.

Mattson hopes to find out how social support within relationships could be used to treat stress.  The other two studies at BU involve medical imaging and stroke prevention.
