Child Passenger Safety Week

Do you know if your child as safe as possible in a  car safety seat?

You've got a chance to find out this saturday at the oakdale mall in johnson city.

The Broome county Health Department will hold car seat inspections in the parking lot of the Burlington Coat Factory from 10 a-m to 2 p-m.

Technicians will make sure the correct seat is properly installed based on the child's age, weight, and development.

"Usually what we see is that the car seat is installed too loose and that the child is sitting too loose within the harness system and in a crash that car seat may not hold up the way it should, and if the harness is too loose the child could be ejected in a crash," said Christine Muss, Broome County Traffic Safety Coordinator.

So far this year the Broome County Health Department has inspected 270 car seats and replaced 180 of them.
