White House on Quality of Binghamton University

A white house official said on Thursday BU is a national leader when it comes to opportunities for students.

The Deputy Director for the Domestic Policy Council applauded the SUNY school system for finding more innovative ways to keep classes affordable and enroll more students.

"While some other colleges that measure themselves by how many students they don't let in, SUNY is expanding to enroll an additional 100,000 students over the next three years and that's something that's very important to the economy and very important to New York," said James Kvaal, Deputy Director for the Domestic Policy Council.

Kvaal says most graduates leave school with $26,000 in debt. The president says higher education shouldn't be a luxury.
