BU Men's Soccer preaches "togetherness" for 2013

VESTAL -- Binghamton University athletes are a little over a week into their fall training camps. The various Bearcat squads are preparing for the season ahead.

The men's soccer team finished 6th in the America East Conference last season and preseason polls have not yet been released. That does not matter for the team. With nine freshmen joining the squad and several redshirt freshmen as well, the buzz word for 2013 is "togetherness."

12th year Head Coach Paul Marco says, "One of the things that you try to get in training camp is togetherness. I think this is probably the closest team we've had in a very long time. I see great leadership from our returning players."

Senior back Robbie Hughes adds, "Our job in this preseason is to bring the team together as well as to prepare for that first game. I genuinely think that the guys that have come in have stepped up. I feel like we're going to surprise a few people."

The season begins one week from Friday at the JMU Invitational Tournament. We'll have previews from women's soccer, volleyball and cross country as well this week.
