Local Officials Respond to Presidential Visit

While invitation by lottery to the President's visit might delight lucky students who draw the winning tickets, some local Democrats were hoping for a wider audience for the president.

State Representative Donna Lupardo thinks the President's appearance is something the entire Southern Tier can take pride in but wishes it was more open to the general public.

Broome County's Democratic Committee Chair James Testani says party officials such as himself have not been asked for any list of people who should be invited. He says that's understandable, because Obama's visit is not a political campaign event.  He says he's just savoring the moment.

Testani says he's still waiting for some direct contact from the presidential party but there has been none, so far.
