STREDC Holds Public Meeting

The Southern Tier Regional Economic Development Council says results are already in the making.

At a public meeting of the council Wednesday, Co-chair Harvey Stenger, who's the president of Binghamton University, told us that "we should see some new jobs created next quarter and into next year."

Stenger say the jobs would center around high tech and new manufacturing of products that could restart the economy in the Southern Tier which was good news for the  Broome County Executive

"I really can't wait to get this started and get this going because these are going to be very key projects that are going to bring jobs to the local economy and that's what I'm here for," said Broome County Executive Debbie Preston.

The jobs report is part of the economic development council's round two  projects.  During Wednesday's meeting, the council also discussed proposed amendments to its strategic plan for regional economic development.
