Spiedie Fest Continues at Willow Point

VESTAL--"I watch the balloon go up and I got my great grandchildren to watch," said Esther Warner who attended Spiedie Fest at Willow Point.

Esther Warner didn't make it to Otsiningo Park this weekend, but she still enjoyed the sights and sounds of Spiedie Fest.

For the past 21 years, the Vestal Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Resident Council have hosted their own.

"We have spiedies.  We have music.  We have a balloon and it's just great for families to get together.  We have staff that bring their families-- a chance to be a community," said Denise Johnson, administrator.

The festival gives residents a taste of the Broome County Tradition without a lot of travel, making it a tradition for some.

"We come out every year to the nursing home event.  My grandmas here and it's just a great time to come out every year.  The music, the food, and I mean, who doesn't love spiedies," said Vicki Marini.

And an unforgettable event for others.

"I wouldn't go in it but it's nice to see," said Warner.
