Jets: Sanchez, Smith likely to split time in scrimmage

CORTLAND -- Coming into Jets Training Camp on Friday, it was the last chance for Rex Ryan and Marty Mornhinweg to see Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez in action before deciding which quarterback would start with the first string offense in Saturday night's Green and White Scrimmage.

Head Coach Ryan said after practice, "I haven't talked to Marty yet, but knowing him he's probably already thought about exactly what he would like to get done there. I'm sure that's going to be a part of it for sure, that they'll both get times with ones and twos."

Incumbent Mark Sanchez is not thinking about it, saying, "I care about, okay-- the group that I'm in with, whether it's ones or twos,-- are we winning that drill? Is my group winning? That's all I can control."

Regardless, rookie Geno Smith is looking forward to the competition.

"Everyone has an opportunity, and tomorrow is going to be one of the opportunities for us to showcase everything we've learned up until this point," Smith explained.

As for the secondary, Dee Milliner is happy to be fully participating in practice. Now, he finally feels like a Jet.

The first round draft pick said, "I did a lot today. I actually ran through a lot more team things. Yesterday I just did 7-on-7 and the one-on-ones, stuff like that. I did mostly everything out there except the goal line and short yardage part. It felt great to get out there and move around with the team."
