Bandwidth: O-A Students Summer Project

For some high schoolers, getting a summer job is all about earning a little extra cash.
But for students working for the Owego-Apalachin I-T Department-- how about extra bandwidth?

The kids are helping boost the district's wireless signal to accommodate  an increase in internet traffic.

Students in some classrooms will be using i-pads this school year so the need is great for extra capacity.

"We try and teach them all the software skills and it's amazing how proficient they come and how quickly they learn," said network specialist Sam Cox.

"This is an incredible opportunity.  Not only can you put this on a resume for later careers, but our district has this program that students are allowed to work with professionals," said Grant Lindhorst a senior at Owego.
12 students are taking part in the program, including five who were a part of it last year.
