West Nile Virus Warning

Heading outside?  Put on that mosquito repellent.
The state health commissioner urges New Yorkers to take precautions against bug bites after 20 mosquito pools throughout the state tested positive for the West Nile Virus.

Dr. Nirav Shah says residents should wear shoes with socks, long pants and long sleeved shirts when outdoors for long periods of time as well as apply repellent.

A severe infection causes symptoms such as high fever, neck stiffness, and disorientation.

It's estimated 1 n 150 people infected with the virus will experience more severe cases of the disease.
