Police: Intoxicated Driver Causes Two-Car Crash, Flees Scene

ENDWELL -- Part of Route 17 was closed down Sunday morning after police say an intoxicated driver caused a two-car crash.

Broome County Sheriffs say the accident happened at about 4 a.m. in the eastbound lane near Endwell Exit 69.  Deputies say 23-year-old Cory Starring of Endicott rear-ended another car, and then fled the scene.  He was later found on the George F. Highway.  After a brief foot chase, Starring was arrested.

Deputies say starring was intoxicated, and found with MDMA.  He is charged with a felony DWI, criminal possession of drugs, and leaving the scene of an accident.  Starring was sent to Broome County Jail.

The driver of the other vehicle was sent to Wilson Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
