Lupardo Responds to Governor's Plan on Storm Recovery

A big blow to the still shaky Upstate economy has been the damage from recent floods.

But, $500 million of help is on the way. Governor Cuomo, Thursday launched the New York Rising Community Reconstruction Program, with the federal government helping provide money and resources.

The effort will target 102 severely damaged communities in New York  including Conklin, Johnson City, Union, Vestal, and Binghamton.

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo says the program is a smart way to go.

"He's asking communities to come together and to make on
recommendations on how to spend the money. The beauty of that is that places like Johnson City, Endicott, Binghamton, Vestal, all the way to Owego will all have to coordinate, work together on a plan that helps that whole area so we don't fix one problem and cause another problem and cause another problem down the road," said Lupardo.

Lupardo says that the policy will help withstream reconstruction, flood wall mitigation, and developing spill ways.
