Ross Park Zoo Raises Money in a Sweet Way

BINGHAMTON -- The Ross Park Zoo is  taking a sweet route to enhancement.

Families came out to support the zoo in a delicious way Saturday.  Several ice cream stations (provided by Turkey Hill) were set up throughout the zoo, offering visitors an array of tasty flavors like "panda paws."  Money from the treats will go towards the zoo's "ReZoovenation" project, for exhibit imrpovement and public amenities.

"It gives those people who normall can't come to the zoo during the day an opportunity to come to the zoo, see the zoo, and enjoy other treats or whatever too. So, it's a nice way to reach out to a different segment of the population," said Steven Contento, the Executive Director of the Ross Park Zoo.

Zoo staff say they hope to generate up to $7,000.  The next zoo fundraiser will be a progressive dinner in August.
