Hickey officially on the ballot

BINGHAMTON -- One of three Republican candidates for Binghamton mayor turned in his petition signatures today to get on the ballot for the September primary.
Ed Hickey is a manager for a pair of downtown bars, and a political newcomer.  He says going door-to-door collecting signatures has shown him a key concern of a lot of Binghamton voters - property taxes.

"I knocked on so many senior citizen doors, people who worked in the town, stayed in their house the past 50 years and now they have to sell their house because they can't live in it anymore. Property taxes aren't supposed to be what rent is. We need to somehow get our property taxes in line and that's now one of my main focuses," said Hickey.
Hickey still plans to form an Eagle Party line to run on, in addition to running as a Republican.
