Binghamton Man Arrested, Found with Heroin

BINGHAMTON -- Officers discovered a man setting off fireworks in a Binghamton parking lot Saturday morning.

But after questioning the suspect, police found the man had an outstanding warrant for narcotics possession. 

Police say 44-year-old Joaquin molina-Cartagena of 9 Eaton Place also had 209 envelopes of heroin in the front of his pants. 

He is charged with criminal possession of  a controlled substance, unlawfully dealing with fireworks, and an outstanding arrest warrant for criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Molina-Cartagena is currently at the City of Binghamton Police Department awaiting arraignment.
