Report of Shots Fired Brings Police to Vestal Home

A report of shots fired brings Vestal police to a home on Brook Hill avenue early Thursday morning.

Police say the call came in just before 3 a.m. They say James Sutera, 46, thought he had been shot in the hand.

When officers arrived they found the Sutera's girlfriend hiding near the street with injuries.  She told officials she had been a victim of a physical domestic incident and fired the gun during that dispute.

Sutera is now charged with assault and criminal mischief.  He is in the Broome County jail.

His girlfriend was treated at Lourdes hospital and was not charged.
