Drug Arrests Around the Area

Lots of drug arrests over the past few days.

Broome County's Drug Unit scooped up 16 people suspected of drug activities as part of an attempt to deter future crimes and narcotics use.

The Broome County Special Investigations Unit Task Force says the 16 arrests involved 35 associated charges, seven search warrants, eight outstanding warrants, 97 wax envelope folds of heroin, and more than eleven thousand dollars of U.S. currency.

The task force says the arrests have led to additional information on a number of unsolved crimes.

They also say the sweep was prompted in part by a recent increase in property crimes, heroin possession and overdoses in the area.

A 27-year old Binghamton woman is behind bars, after she was busted for heroin possession.

Jamie Guadagno's apartment at 27 Lydia Street was searched and,  authorities report finding 57 envelopes of heroin, a digital scale, and  42-hundred dollars in U.S. currency.

She's being held, without bail, at the Broome County Jail.

Wednesday, two Endicott men had the cuffs slapped on them, in arrests  involving drugs.

43-year old Morris Simmons of 114 Cleveland Avenue, Endicott, is charged with Possession of Heroin, with intent to sell.

He was captured after a police chase through the village. After his car was disabled, he fled on foot, and was taken into custody after a brief struggle.

A search of Simmons's apartment yielded more heroin and other drugs and another arrest that of Wixie Nickerson, said to be associated with Simmons in a heroin trafficking operation.
