Cuomo on Upstate Flooding
7/2/2013 (Updated 7:14:21 PM)While at BU, Cuomo also spoke on the recent flooding he's observed across the state over the past few days.
He says it's unfortunate that the state has been hit so hard by flooding in recent years, but it has allowed for better emergency management and quicker response. While emergency crews are ready to assist, the governor says first response starts with you.
"The best first responders are people in their own homes," Cuomo said. "It's important that we stress that you have an individual responsibility for yourself and for your family. If you are in an area where you know there's a tendency to flood, if you have any reason to believe you might be in a situation that might be getting dangerous, then you have the first responsibility."
Due to the flooding. Cuomo activated the flood helpline. For information on health and safety tips and recovery information, you can call 1-888-769-7243.
