Pineda's rehab stint comes to Binghamton
6/28/2013 (Updated 10:53:59 PM)It's no secret the Yankees have been suffering from several key injuries all season long. With big names like A-Rod, Jeter, Teixeira, and Granderson all seeing time on the DL, a little lost in the shuffle is Michael Pineda.
Pineda has never pitched for the Yankees since coming to the Bronx in the trade that sent Jesus Montero and Hector Noesi to Seattle. In 2011, his only major league season, Pineda has a career 9-10 record with a 3.74 ERA, and 173 strikeouts in 171.0 IP across 28 starts.
Pineda was placed on the DL with tendinitis and then underwent surgery on his pitching shoulder. He is slated to make a rehab start with the Trenton Thunder on Sunday against the B-Mets at NYSEG Stadium.
Before Friday night's game, Pineda spoke with Fox 40 about how his rehab is progressing.
