Fighting off Sleep to Fight Cancer

Fighting off sleep to help fight cancer.  That's what hundreds were doing Friday night at Broome Community College.

The American Cancer Society is hosting a Relay for Life on campus.  78 teams registered and will walk laps throughout the night to raise awareness of the disease and raise funds for cancer research.

"I'd just like to thank everybody who has helped us this year with the Relay for Life.  They've been awesome.  We had to make a lot of changes at the last minute due to weather and everybody is adjusting well and I really appreciate it," said Pat Vincent, organizer.

"Why am I a supporter? I lost my mother to cancer a few years ago so I try to do whatever I can to try to support the cause and hopefully save, even if it's just one person," said Willie Murray, participant.

This is the second year the event is being held at BCC.  The night also includes a special dinner for survivors of the disease.
